A tip-off to child helpline 1098 averted a suspected child sacrifice in Sulibele, near Bengaluru. Officials rescued an eight-month-old boy from a couple claiming to be his parents, who were allegedly planning a ritual for hidden treasure. The couple, who had illegally adopted the child, denied the allegations, but contradictory statements and a freshly dug pit raised alarm.
