The Rajya Sabha was briefly adjourned on Friday after the upper house noted that no Cabinet minister was present when proceedings started. Opposition MPs protested the absence of Cabinet ministers. The Lok Sabha also adjourned after paying respect to former Union minister Shivraj Patil and those lost in the 2001 Parliament attack.
