Bengaluru: Auto driver sets himself on fire during police routine check; tension in area

A 35-year-old auto driver in Chitradurga attempted self-immolation after alleging persistent harassment by traffic police during a drunk-driving check. He poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze near Gandhi Circle, reportedly after being manhandled. Onlookers rescued him; he is in serious condition with 50 percent burns.
