A JNUSU protest against alleged casteist remarks by Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit escalated into a two-hour clash with police after students broke open the locked main gate to march towards the education ministry. Police, who said no permission was granted, detained several students and reported injuries on both sides, as tensions continued on campus into the evening.
