The killing of cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes in Mexico has raised fresh concerns about safety just months before the FIFA World Cup 2026. The operation took place near Tapalpa in Jalisco state. More than 70 people died during the military action and its aftermath. The violence has worried tourism businesses across the region.
