A father aspiring to contest Maharashtra panchayat elections, ineligible due to the two-child norm, allegedly drowned his six-year-old twin daughter in a Telangana canal. The accused, Pandurang Kondamangale, confessed after his daughter’s body was found. The outgoing sarpanch, who encouraged him, was also arrested for aiding the plot.
