A 20-year-old electronics and communication engineering student died by suicide in her hostel room at BITS Pilani KK Birla Goa campus on Sunday evening. This marks the first recorded female student suicide at the campus. Police broke into her room after she failed to respond to colleagues and confirmed death by ligature strangulation.
