A Maharashtra man, Pandurang Kondamangale, has been arrested for allegedly drowning his six-year-old daughter to become eligible for local elections. Maharashtra law bars candidates with more than two children. The village sarpanch, Ganesh Shinde, is also held for aiding the plot. The crime surfaced after the girl’s body was found in a canal.
