Canada is in talks with Meta to reinstate news on Facebook, following the tech giant’s 2023 ban over the Online News Act. The legislation, now a point of contention in US trade negotiations, requires tech firms to fund Canadian journalism. Meta seeks an exemption, while Google already contributes significantly.
