The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has refused fresh MBBS counselling for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence students, leaving the allocation of supernumerary seats to the government. Following the National Medical Commission’s withdrawal of the college’s permission for regulatory non-compliance, students now face uncertainty, caught between administrative inaction, political agitation, and questions over merit and accountability.
