Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali sparked debate after defending Steve Smith in the Babar Azam controversy during a Big Bash League match. After Smith refused a single and then smashed a record 32-run over, Babar was dismissed soon after. Basit blamed Babar and controversially said Smith would never deny Virat Kohli a run. Kamran Akmal disagreed, calling Smith’s act disrespectful.
