Meta’s former AI chief, Yann LeCun, declared Large Language Models (LLMs) a ‘dead end’ for achieving superintelligence. He advocates for ‘world models’ that learn from physical reality, not just language, to build advanced machine intelligence. LeCun’s departure from Meta was reportedly due to internal disagreements over the company’s LLM-centric superintelligence push, despite CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s support for his research.
