A Catholic priest from Kerala, Fr. James Cherickal, serving in Toronto, has been arrested in Canada on charges of sexual assault and sexual interference. Peel Regional Police laid the charges on December 18. The Archdiocese of Toronto has removed him from pastoral ministry, emphasizing his innocence until proven guilty and entitlement to due process.
