A Muslim community panchayat in Kosi Kalan has banned nikah ceremonies at hotels and guest houses, restricting DJ music, fireworks, and the ‘salami’ ritual to curb extravagance. The move aims to promote austerity and equality, with repeated violations incurring an Rs 11,000 fine. Nikahs will now be solemnized only in mosques.
