Widespread unrest erupted in Bangladesh following the death of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi, a critic of former PM Sheikh Hasina. Protests turned violent in Dhaka, with attacks on major media houses and the Indian deputy ambassador’s residence. Hadi was shot last month, just before elections he intended to contest.
