The HECI Bill 2025, now renamed Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhikshan (VBSA) Bill, is set to be introduced in Parliament next week. The legislation will create a single regulator for higher education, replacing UGC, AICTE, and NCTE. Standalone teacher training institutes, previously outside accreditation frameworks, will now be evaluated under uniform standards. Aligned with NEP 2020, the bill aims to streamline regulation, accreditation, and learning outcomes across universities and colleges, providing consistency and a common benchmark.
