Over 50 lakh Central government employees and 69 lakh pensioners will be covered under the 8th Pay Commission, with its Terms of Reference notified on November 3, 2025. The commission, headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, will examine pay, allowances, and pensions. Implementation timelines and funding will be decided later, following the commission’s submission of recommendations within 18 months.
