Satwinder Singh told the police that the incident was fabricated and whatever happened inside the cab was consensual. He also said New Zealand women are ‘forward and promiscuous’. The court found him guilty of rape charges and sentenced him to seven years and two months’ jail. The judge refused to give him any hardship discount because of the fact that he is a Sikh Indian, and not from New Zealand.
