IBM CEO Arvind Krishna cautions that massive AI infrastructure investments by tech giants may not yield expected returns, citing exorbitant data center costs and rapid chip obsolescence. He believes the race for AGI is a motivator, but current technology has a low chance of achieving it. Krishna also attributes tech layoffs to pandemic-era over-hiring rather than AI.
