An Indian national, Mohammed Asif, has been sentenced to two years in US federal prison for orchestrating a Medicare fraud scheme. His Everett-based lab, American Labworks LLC, billed over $8 million for unreceived COVID-19 and respiratory tests, defrauding Medicare of more than $1.1 million. Asif, who controlled the lab’s finances, will also pay over $1.1 million in restitution.
