Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis sees artificial general intelligence as still five to ten years away. He notes rapid progress with Gemini 3.0 models. However, Hassabis states that one or two more major breakthroughs are needed. These advancements will focus on improved reasoning and memory capabilities. The company is actively working on these areas.
