West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has strongly criticized the Election Commission’s special intensive revision of voter rolls. She labeled the process ‘votebandi’, comparing it to demonetisation and alleging it is being conducted hastily before elections. Banerjee demanded an immediate halt to the exercise, asserting that voter rights should not be curbed.
