Mere use of abusive, defamatory or filthy language not offence: HC

The Bombay High Court ruled that using abusive or defamatory language alone does not constitute an offense under Section 294 of the IPC. The court emphasized that both obscenity and public annoyance must be proven with evidence. In a specific case, the court quashed charges under this section as no one was shown to be annoyed or the language deemed obscene.
