Sonam Wangchuk arrested days after violent protest in Ladakh

Leh Police arrested activist Sonam Wangchuk following the cancellation of his NGO’s license amidst escalating tensions in Ladakh. Protests demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule safeguards turned violent, resulting in casualties and widespread unrest. Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike, called it off after fellow protesters were hospitalized, triggering further demonstrations and clashes with security forces.
