Dr. Priya Karthika, a 27-year-old psychiatry PG student at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS), tragically died by suicide on Monday. She allegedly consumed an overdose of medicine in her hostel room after completing her hospital duty. Dr. Karthika had a history of depression and had previously attempted suicide, receiving treatment in Bengaluru.
