11 years on, Maharashtra official convicted of taking Rs 1,500 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), facing criticism for low conviction rates, successfully convicted a retired senior transport official in an 11-year-old bribery case. Rajendra Aknath Nerkar, along with an accomplice, was sentenced for accepting a bribe to return bus documents. This conviction highlights ACB’s commitment to prosecuting high-ranking officials despite past challenges with evidence and witness availability.
