Land of coconuts? Karnataka pips Kerala to become India’s largest producer

Karnataka has become India’s largest producer of coconuts, surpassing Kerala, which previously held the top spot. According to the Centre’s Coconut Development Board, Karnataka produced 726 crore coconuts in the first two quarters of 2023-24. This success is attributed to the trend of ‘weekend agriculture’ in southern districts and efficient farming practices.
