A special CBI court in Chandigarh sentenced IPS officer Zahur Haider Zaidi and seven other policemen to life imprisonment for their roles in the Kotkhai custodial death case. They were convicted under multiple charges, including murder and conspiracy. Zaidi, previously suspended for pressuring another officer, had been serving as IG communications and technology services before the ruling.
