The Avaniyapuram jallikattu event in Madurai turned tragic as a bull tamer, Naveen Kumar, 22, was gored to death and 75 others sustained injuries. Chief minister M K Stalin announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh for Kumar’s family. Despite precautions, the accident occurred, and medical teams were present to provide immediate care.
