Telangana High Court ruled a single parent with custody can obtain a child’s passport without the other parent’s consent. Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya set aside a contrary requirement, finding it unnecessary. The 1980 Passport Rules allow this if the custodial parent provides prescribed information. This applies even if parents are separated but not formally divorced.
